Far Cry 5 (Steam Gift): welcome to Hope County
Far Cry 5 is Ubisoft's open world set in the quiet rural Hope County, Montana, which has been seized by the Eden's Gate cult led by preacher Joseph Seed. You play a sheriff's deputy whose attempt to arrest the cultist goes badly wrong, leaving the whole region cut off from the outside world. You free it piece by piece: recruiting locals, dismantling the cult's infrastructure and steadily closing in on Seed and his "family".
What makes Far Cry 5 stand out
The core hook is freedom. The map opens up almost from the start, and you decide the order in which to clear the three regions run by Joseph's brothers and sister. Storm an outpost head-on with a shotgun, silently thin out the guards with a bow, or let a bear loose on your enemies and dive-bomb them with a plane. Hope County feels alive: wild animals, random encounters, fishing, races and dozens of stashes keep the world dense and unpredictable.
Two-player co-op
The entire Far Cry 5 campaign can be played in two-player co-op. A friend drops into your game and you liberate the county together — coordinating assaults, covering each other and creating the controlled chaos the series is loved for. It's one of the best ways to spend an evening with a partner.
Guns and Fangs for Hire
If you play solo, you won't be alone. The Guns for Hire and Fangs for Hire system lets you recruit specialists and animals: sniper Grace, pilot Nick, the cougar Peaches or the legendary dog Boomer. Each one changes how you approach a fight and lets you tune tactics to your style.
Which edition to pick
The Standard Edition is the full base game: open world, campaign and co-op. The Gold Edition adds the season pass with extra content. There are also bundles that pair Far Cry 5 with its direct sequel Far Cry New Dawn in its Deluxe version — a handy way to grab both parts at once and play Hope County's story from start to post-apocalypse.
How the Steam Gift delivery works
