ENDER MAGNOLIA: Bloom in the Mist — a sequel that outshines the original
ENDER MAGNOLIA: Bloom in the Mist is a 2D Metroidvania developed by Adglobe and Live Wire, published by Binary Haze Interactive. After a spell in early access, it received its full release on January 22, 2025, as the direct sequel to the acclaimed Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights, which sold over 1.5 million copies. What it's about: the Land of Fumes and Lilac the Attuner
The story unfolds decades after the events of the first game, in the poisoned Land of Fumes. Machine-like beings called Homunculi have been corrupted by rust and madness, and toxic gases are spreading across the kingdom. You play as Lilac, a young Attuner with the power to purify. Together with her Homunculus companion Nola, she sets out to stop the spreading blight and uncover what happened to the world.
How it plays: you don't fight — your allies do
The core twist of the combat is that Lilac never fights directly. Instead, she summons purified Homunculi — defeated enemies can be cleansed and recruited as allies, and you swap between them mid-battle. This turns every encounter into a small puzzle: which ally counters this boss, how to build your skill loadout, how to open up the map through new abilities. The classic Metroidvania formula — exploration, platforming, backtracking for new routes — is polished to a shine here on Unreal Engine 5.
Music by Mili
The soundtrack was written by the experimental group Mili, the same artists behind the first game. Melancholic vocal themes and atmospheric compositions have become a signature of the series and largely set the tone for the whole journey through the Land of Fumes. Many players call ENDER MAGNOLIA's music one of the best reasons to see the game through to the end.
What's included
You get the base version of the game — the complete game in full, not a DLC or add-on. You do NOT need to own Ender Lilies or any other entry to play: ENDER MAGNOLIA stands on its own, though fans of the first game will spot plenty of references and connections across the world.

ENDER MAGNOLIA isn't a brutal soulslike that punishes every mistake, but it's no pushover either: bosses ask you to learn their patterns and pick the right combination of allies. The game includes difficulty settings and accessibility helpers, so both seasoned challenge-seekers and players who came mainly for the story and atmosphere can find a comfortable mode. The main campaign runs roughly 15–20 hours on average, with full exploration and all secrets taking considerably longer.
