Dune: Imperium β the Dune board game gone digital, and how to buy it as a Steam gift
Dune: Imperium by Dire Wolf is the digital adaptation of one of the most respected modern board games set in Frank Herbert's universe. If you love decisions that carry weight and victories built from dozens of small calculated moves, this one will keep you hooked. You control a Great House fighting for influence over Arrakis across ten rounds: recruiting agents, weaving intrigue, hoarding spice, and committing troops to combat for the round's rewards at exactly the right moment. On this page you get the base game as a Steam gift β it drops straight into your library.
What the game is and why it grips you
At its core, Dune: Imperium combines two mechanics that rarely meet: deck-building (you assemble and improve a deck of cards) and worker placement (sending agents to locations across Arrakis). The cards in your hand dictate where agents can go this turn β to mine spice, win the favor of a faction (the Emperor, the Spacing Guild, the Bene Gesserit, the Fremen), or prepare for a military clash. Each round ends in a conflict, and whoever fields the most strength takes the best rewards. A game runs ten rounds or until 10 influence points β and the outcome is almost always decided in the final turns.
What's in the base game
The base version of Dune: Imperium Digital includes everything from the original 2020 box: the full set of Great House leaders, the starting decks, the Arrakis board, and the faction and conflict systems. That's enough for a complete experience β you don't need any extra DLC to start playing.
- Great Houses and leaders, each with their own starting ability.
- The full game loop: recruitment, agent placement, card reveal, conflicts, influence scoring.
- Four factions to bargain with for support and points.
- Solo modes: matches against AI, a set of challenges, and a rotating Skirmish.
- Online multiplayer with cross-platform matches.
Expansions: what's NOT included
It's worth knowing the boundary: the Rise of Ix, Immortality and the major Uprising expansion (released digitally on June 9, 2026) are not part of this base game β they're sold as separate DLC on Steam and require the base game. So you need the base version first (that's what this is), and the expansions are bought later if you want them. If someone offers "everything included for pennies," that's most likely a mix-up: the base game and the expansions are separate purchases.
How the gift is delivered
Delivery goes through Steam Gift. You provide a Steam friend invite link and your account region, place the order β then our bot adds itself to your friends and sends the gift. You don't need to accept the friend request; the bot handles everything and leaves your friends list automatically after delivery. Steam Guard is not required. The whole process usually takes a couple of minutes from checkout, though it's not a hard guarantee β sometimes a little longer.
The key thing about region and library
Two conditions, without which Steam simply won't let you accept the gift. First: your Steam account region must match the gift region β so enter your real region accurately at checkout. Second: you must not already own Dune: Imperium on that account β Steam won't accept a gift for a game you already have. Also make sure your profile privacy settings allow friend requests β otherwise the bot can't find you.
System notes
The game runs on Windows and macOS. It's a turn-based strategy with no demanding hardware requirements β it's about thinking, not graphics, so it'll launch on a modest laptop. If you play across devices, the cross-platform multiplayer comes in handy: you can run a game with people on other platforms.
Who it's for
Dune: Imperium is for fans of euro board games, deck-builders, and strategies with deep planning: lovers of Terraforming Mars, card-engine enthusiasts, and of course fans of the Dune universe. If you enter Arrakis from other angles, also check out the survival game Dune: Awakening and the real-time strategy Dune: Spice Wars. And if the base Dune: Imperium clicks and you want more content and factions, the major Dune: Imperium β Uprising update is worth a look later.
