Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot — a Steam gift and Goku’s journey again
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is not yet another fighting game set in Akira Toriyama’s universe but a large story-driven action-RPG where you live Goku’s life in full. From the moment Raditz lands on Earth to the final clash with Majin Buu, all the key sagas of Dragon Ball Z are gathered into one journey. Here you take a Steam gift: the game lands straight in your library and stays there forever, with no keys or manual activation.
What the game is
The developers at CyberConnect2 (known for the .hack series and Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm), published by Bandai Namco, bet not on one-on-one tournament duels but on the feeling of an adventure. You fly over open zones, collect Dragon Balls, fish, cook dishes that grant combat bonuses, train and level up each fighter’s skill tree. And when a fight breaks out, it is the signature aerial battles with devastating ki attacks, teleports and, of course, a fully charged Kamehameha.
Which sagas are in the base game
The base version of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot takes you through the show’s canonical arcs:
- Saiyan Saga — Raditz’s arrival and the first encounter with Vegeta and Nappa.
- Frieza Saga — the events on planet Namek and the legendary Super Saiyan transformation.
- Android and Cell Saga — the Cell Games and Gohan’s coming of age.
- Majin Buu Saga — the final confrontation and the warrior fusions.
Between battles you live the everyday life of the Z fighters: side quests, mini-games, character memories and the bonds between heroes that strengthen your team in combat. That is dozens of hours of core content without a single purchased add-on.
Life between battles and RPG progression
It is the RPG framing that sets Kakarot apart from the universe’s fighters. The world is split into spacious zones you can fly across, fishing, hunting, gathering materials and cooking food — dishes give tangible stat bonuses. Characters grow along a skill tree spent on Z orbs, and the story and side episodes reveal familiar scenes from the inside. The result is not a museum retelling of the anime but a lived-through story where you both fight and simply exist in this world.
Editions and DLC: what to know
This item is the base game, and it is enough to play through the entire main story. Beyond it, Kakarot has separate add-ons that you buy on Steam on top of the base:
- A New Power Awakens (parts 1 and 2) — episodes based on the «Battle of Gods» and «Resurrection F» films with the God of Destruction Beerus and the Super Saiyan God form.
- Trunks — The Warrior of Hope — a bleak alternate future timeline with Trunks.
- DAIMA: Adventure Through the Demon Realm — a recent add-on based on the new DAIMA anime, released in parts across 2025–2026.
Note: the digital Deluxe and Legendary bundles that used to include the season passes were delisted with the release of the DAIMA content. So the correct way to gather everything is to take the base game with this gift and add the DLC you want separately on Steam. If separate editions appear for this item, they will show in the selection tab above the description.
How the gift arrives in Steam
It is simpler than with a key and almost hands-off. After payment the sender bot adds you as a friend via your invite link and sends Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot as a gift. You just accept the gift in your library — no trades to confirm manually — and once delivered the bot unlinks and leaves. We will not log into your account, so there is no need to turn Steam Guard on or off. The gift usually arrives within a couple of minutes of payment.
Gift region and platform
The gift is for the Steam PC version (Windows). Two conditions matter for gifts: your Steam account region must match the gift region, and the game must not already be in your library — a title you already own cannot be gifted. On Steam Deck the game is usually run through the Proton compatibility layer, but there is no official guarantee from the developer for the Deck or Linux — the result depends on your setup. Before buying, check the system requirements on the Steam store page to make sure your PC can handle it.
Who it is for
If you grew up on Dragon Ball and want not just to throw punches but to relive the saga with its emotional moments, open world and RPG progression, Kakarot is made exactly for that. The game welcomes both long-time fans who recognize every scene and newcomers for whom it is a convenient entry into the story of the Z fighters. The barrier to entry is gentle: you pick up the combat quickly, while the depth opens gradually through leveling, stacking food effects and outfitting your characters. Dozens of hours of the main story plus optional activities easily turn into a leisurely big adventure across many evenings.
