You play Robert Robertson III, a third-generation hero known as Mecha Man — he has no powers of his own, just a mechanical suit built by his grandfather. Once that suit gets wrecked in the field, Robert has to take a desk job as a dispatcher at SDN's Torrance branch — a manager named Blonde Blazer talks him into it in exchange for fixing the suit — keeping an eye on the Z-Team, a crew of reformed villains going through the Phoenix rehabilitation program.
Gameplay: a dispatch strategy loop, not another beat-em-up
On Steam, Dispatch is tagged across several genres at once — action, adventure, casual, indie, and strategy — which tracks: instead of fighting crime yourself, the game has you managing the people who do: you assign the Z-Team to emergencies around the city, read their chat banter, and make dialogue choices that shape both the plot and the relationships between characters. Every decision counts — by episode three you're already forced to cut someone from the program. The roster includes Courtney, aka Invisigal, a former villain who turns invisible while holding her breath, and Chase, aka Track Star, Robert's old friend and a retired speedster who, thanks to a side effect of his powers, looks about 80 at 39.
