Dinkum is a farming and life sim that solo Australian developer James Bendon built around his home outback. What a Steam gift is and how it reaches you

A Steam gift is a complete copy of the game that we send you through a friend bot. You provide a friend invite link and your account region, place the order, and the bot adds itself, sends Dinkum, then leaves once it's delivered. What to do in Dinkum

Dinkum's loop is built from dozens of small activities that quietly hook you. You catch bugs and fish for the local museum, hunt outback critters, mine ores, fell trees and forage fruit. The money you earn (called "dinks") goes toward licences from Fletch, the local trader, who unlocks new tools and possibilities: advanced mining, bigger nets, building permits. Step by step you invite NPCs, build them homes, open shops and turn an empty island into a lively settlement. Changing seasons and Australian weather (sudden storms and heatwaves included) set a rhythm without ever rushing you — this is a game about enjoying the process, not racing it.

Technical details and platform

The gift activates in Steam, so the game runs on everything Steam supports for Dinkum: Windows PC, and via Proton on Steam Deck / Linux too (plenty of players say Dinkum is especially cosy on the go). Saves go to Steam Cloud, achievements and updates are standard. Since this is a full copy on your account rather than temporary access, the game stays yours regardless of what happens to the store or any sales.

If something goes wrong

Sometimes the bot can't add you — almost always it's either friend requests being blocked in your profile settings, or an expired invite link. Fix the settings, send a fresh invite link, and delivery will go through. Hiccups in services like this are rare — if something gets stuck, we do our best to sort it out and get the gift to you.
