Devil May Cry 5 is the fifth numbered entry in Capcom's legendary hack-and-slash series, released on March 8, 2019. The city of Red Grave sprouts the demonic Qliphoth tree, and three hunters descend on its roots at once: cocky Nero with his mechanical Devil Breaker arm, the veteran Dante, and the mysterious V who commands summoned beasts. The whole game is built around the joy of combat — you launch enemies into the air, swap weapons and styles on the fly, and chase a style rank from a humble D up to the dazzling SSS over a driving rock soundtrack. How the editions differ

There are two lots on this page, and both contain the full game — pick by the bonuses:

• Devil May Cry 5 + Vergil — the base game plus playable Vergil. That's enough to run the entire campaign as Nero, V and Dante, then replay it as Vergil himself.
• Devil May Cry 5 Deluxe + Vergil — the same plus the Deluxe pack: extra Devil Breakers for Nero (Gerbera GP01, Pasta Breaker, Sweet Surrender and Mega Buster), Dante's Cavaliere R weapon, battle tracks from earlier games in the series, alternative style-announcer voices and live-action cutscenes. Some of it becomes available from mission two onward.

Want the clean game without extras — take the option with Vergil. Craving more toys in combat and some nostalgia for old soundtracks — look at Deluxe.

Three heroes, three schools of combat

The big hook of Devil May Cry 5 is that it's effectively three games in one. Nero works at range with his Blue Rose revolver, carves with the rev-up Red Queen sword, and switches tactics with detachable Devil Breaker arms, each playing its own way. Dante is an arsenal on legs: four combat styles, the chainsaw-motorcycle Cavaliere, the Balrog gauntlets and greaves, and plenty more. And V doesn't strike enemies himself at all — he sics the shadow panther Shadow, the bird Griffon and the golem boss Nightmare on them, finishing off stunned demons with his cane. That spread keeps every playthrough feeling fresh.

Vergil is already bundled in

Playable Vergil once shipped as a separate add-on, but in our lots he's already built into the gift. You get him as a full character across every mode: his own rhythm with teleports, the ghostly Summoned Swords, a doppelganger mode and his signature Judgement Cut that slices the screen in one motion. No extra purchases — you sit down and try both sons of Sparda right away.

Story, difficulties and Bloody Palace

The campaign continues the series' overall arc and brings old and new heroes together against the demon Urizen. After the credits, harder difficulties open up — Son of Sparda, Dante Must Die and others, where enemies are more aggressive and mistakes cost more. Bloody Palace lives separately: 101 floors of timed waves, a pure test of your combos and your ability to hold a rank. There's plenty to keep you busy well past the finale.

Receiving DMC5 as a Steam present

The mechanic is simple:

• You leave your Steam friend-invite link and state your account region.
• A friend request arrives from our account, or a ready invite link does — you accept it and the gift lands in your library.
• Steam Guard doesn't have to be on, and other games or account activity make no difference.

Two conditions Steam won't bend on: your account region must match the region of the chosen lot, and Devil May Cry 5 must not already sit in that account's library. These two are the most common reasons a gift can't be accepted — check them beforehand.

Region, balance and refunds

A lot's region reads through its currency: a price in rubles is one region, another currency is another. If you grabbed the wrong lot by mistake and Steam refuses the gift, the money isn't lost: the full amount lands on your site balance and you take the right option. System, controls and Steam Deck

This is the Steam PC version. The game reads a gamepad and keyboard-and-mouse equally well, but for precise combos most people grab a controller. On modern GPUs Devil May Cry 5 runs smoothly even at high resolutions, and on the Steam Deck people happily play it handheld — same build, no separate versions.

Keep several Devil Breakers on hand as Nero and don't hoard them — they replenish over the mission, so spending them pays off more than saving them. As Dante, switch combat styles mid-fight often: that's where the full depth of his arsenal opens up. And if a specific boss becomes a wall, calmly lower the difficulty — seeing the story and getting a feel for the game beats grinding your teeth. No knowledge of past entries is required: the fifth game explains everything you need as you go, while tossing fans a few nice callbacks.
