What Dead by Daylight actually is
Dead by Daylight is Behaviour Interactive's asymmetric multiplayer horror game, launched on PC on June 14, 2016. The Montreal-based studio built its formula around a single premise that hadn't really been tried at scale before: one player takes the Killer, four others play Survivors trying to pull off something close to impossible โ power the generators, open the exit gates, and get out alive. By 2026 the game had crossed its tenth year on Steam and remains one of the liveliest online horror titles out there, with a playerbase that never really thinned out between its early years and now, and it still shows up in Steam's busier evening and weekend charts.
The studio's first Killer was an original slasher-inspired creation, and later chapters brought in recognizable horror-movie villains alongside the original roster โ though that's the story of the add-ons, not of the base game itself.
How a match plays out: generators, hooks, and the Entity
Survivors repair generators one at a time while trying to stay off the Killer's radar โ pallets, windows, and smart pathing around loops matter as much as raw reaction speed. The Killer downs and hooks Survivors, and the Entity, an unseen force governing the map, claims anyone left on a hook too long. Each side has its own perks and Bloodweb progression, so playing Killer and playing Survivor genuinely feel like two different games bundled into one. A match ends once some Survivors slip out through the open gates or the hatch, while the ones left behind are claimed by the Entity as its offering.
The base game versus separate Killer chapters
This gift unlocks the full base version of Dead by Daylight โ the starting roster of Killers and Survivors, every map, and all the standard modes, no cuts. Over the years Behaviour Interactive has kept releasing new Chapters that add a Killer, a Survivor, or both, and quite a few of them are built around licensed characters from horror movies and other franchises. Those Chapters are sold as separate DLC and aren't bundled into this lot, though you can always pick them up later, including by topping up your balance with a Steam gift card. Maps, for what it's worth, stay free for everyone regardless of how many Chapters you own.
Why a Steam gift is a convenient way to get it
A gift means the game lands in your Steam library without a key to redeem: our bot adds you as a friend and sends the gift, or you get an invite link to accept manually. Nobody logs into your account or asks for a password โ it's just the standard in-game gifting mechanism.
Buying Dead by Daylight, Step by Step
Pick the lot on the product page whose region matches your own Steam account, pay using whichever method suits you, and provide your Steam username or profile link. From there the bot sends a friend request or invite link โ accept it via Steam โ Friends โ Add Friend โ accept the invite link, and Dead by Daylight shows up in your library.
Regions and lot pricing
Each lot's region shows through the store currency listed right on the product card, reflecting the region of the account the gift ships from. If that region doesn't match your own Steam account, Steam will decline the gift, and the payment goes back to your balance with us so you can pick the right lot.
Dead by Daylight Order Safety: No Passwords
Accepting the gift never requires a Steam Guard code, let alone your password โ we never ask for either. Everything runs through a standard game invite to your own profile, and delivery usually happens shortly after payment.
Refunds and the activation recording
If the gift doesn't go through โ say, because you already own Dead by Daylight โ the payment is simply returned to your balance. If the problem is with activation itself, a refund needs a single unedited screen recording covering everything from the payment through the activation attempt, with no cuts or pauses. Any other case, unfortunately, isn't eligible for a refund.
Progression, perks, and the Bloodweb
Character progression runs on Bloodpoints and the Bloodweb โ every match earns points you spend unlocking perks, add-ons, and items for a specific Killer or Survivor. A separate Prestige system lets you reset a character for cosmetics and extra perk slots, and all of that progress lives on your Steam account from the moment the gift lands. Some perks are shared account-wide once unlocked, while others stay tied to a specific character, which is why different Killers and Survivors feel distinct even early on.
