Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin β the complete edition for Steam
Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin is the re-release of the second entry in FromSoftware's legendary Souls series, launched on Steam on April 2, 2015. If the first Dark Souls taught players to respect every single step, the Scholar of the First Sin version of part two pushes the idea to its limit: a reworked world of Drangleic, new enemy and item placement, upgraded DirectX 11 visuals and online sessions for up to six players. Buying from us gets you a global Steam key that activates in any region and ties the game to your account forever.
What's inside Scholar of the First Sin
This isn't a standalone add-on β it's the most complete version of Dark Souls II. A single key packs in:
- the base Dark Souls II game;
- the Crown of the Sunken King DLC β the buried kingdom of Shulva, full of traps and pyramids;
- the Crown of the Old Iron King DLC β the scorching Brume Tower and the boss Sir Alonne;
- the Crown of the Ivory King DLC β the frozen Eleum Loyce and one of the most atmospheric fights in the series.
You don't need to buy the original Dark Souls II separately β it's all already here. So if you're just stepping into the series, this is the best way to get the whole game at once instead of collecting DLC piece by piece.
How Scholar of the First Sin differs from the original
Many people assume it's just a "game + DLC" bundle. In reality FromSoftware rebuilt the playthrough. The DirectX 11 engine noticeably sharpens lighting and textures, but the key change is structural: enemies stand in new spots, items are placed differently, fresh NPCs and extra dialogue appear. Familiar areas play out in new ways, and veterans of the original meet surprises where they used to coast on autopilot. Online was widened to six players per session, with improved matchmaking and balance. It's essentially a second trip through the same world under different rules.
Why Dark Souls II
The Souls series stands on fairness: the game never forgives, but it never cheats either. There's no random death here β only your mistake, which you analyze and clear more cleanly next time. Dark Souls II leans hard into exploration: the sprawling Drangleic is tied together by clever paths, and every corner hides lore, weapons and another boss with its own personality. Build crafting runs deeper than it first looks: mages, archers, heavy-armor tanks, dual-blade duelists β each style plays differently. Co-op and invasions turn the world into a living arena where both help and danger come from other players.
The world of Drangleic and its bosses
Drangleic isn't a single corridor but a branching set of paths: from flooded ruins and poisonous gorges to blazing iron towers and a snowbound castle. Each of the three add-ons leads into its own kingdom with its own character. Shulva from Crown of the Sunken King is a puzzle of shifting pyramids and traps, Brume Tower from Crown of the Old Iron King tests you with heat and the legendary duelist Sir Alonne, and the frozen Eleum Loyce from Crown of the Ivory King delivers one of the most beautiful and demanding fights in the whole series. Bosses here aren't just health bars β each has its own timing, tells and weak points that you figure out through death.
Builds and playstyle
Dark Souls II is generous with ways to play. You can roll in heavy armor with a tower shield and a battering greataxe, or run light and dodge with rolls; a mage burns enemies from afar with pyromancy and sorcery, an archer picks off dangerous targets before the gap closes, and a dual-blade duelist keeps the opponent at the range of combo strings. You spend souls on stats, upgrade weapons at the blacksmith, and tune rings and consumables to each specific boss. This room to experiment is what keeps players in Drangleic for dozens of hours.
How to activate the key on Steam
It's simple: after payment you receive a code. Open the Steam client, in the top menu choose "Games" β "Activate a Product on Steam", paste the key and confirm. Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin with all its DLC will appear in your library β just download and play. The key is global, so your Steam account region doesn't matter, and no VPN is required for activation.
If you love Souls games
