Cult of the Lamb: a cute cult, bloody crusades and your flock on Steam

Cult of the Lamb is a roguelike with base-building where a possessed lamb, saved from sacrifice by a mysterious Stranger, starts a cult of its own. Studio Massive Monster and publisher Devolver Digital pulled off a rare mix: a cozy, cartoonish look on the outside and a dark, occult story underneath. The game launched on 11 August 2022 and quickly became a cult hit β€” literally. Buying Cult of the Lamb from us gets you the full game right on Steam β€” we send it to your account as a Steam Gift.

What the game is and why people love it

Gameplay splits into two halves, and both pull you in. The first is the crusades: you leave your village for one of the grim regions, fight through procedurally arranged rooms, cut down heretics and face a bishop boss at the end. Weapons and curses drop at random, so every run plays out differently. The second half is running your cult: you build a temple and huts, feed your followers, hold sermons and rituals, keep the settlement clean and make sure your flock's faith doesn't crumble. You can bless the faithful β€” or sacrifice them for power. Morality here is flexible.

That contrast between adorable critters and creepy rituals is exactly what made the game a hit. It's cute, funny and a little unsettling all at once β€” and it works.

Followers and growing your cult

The heart of the game is your flock. Every follower is a distinct little creature with its own personality, needs and mood: some want more food, others crave attention, and a few start doubting your teachings. You choose your cult's doctrines β€” allow cannibalism, enforce fasting, legalize lavish funerals, or promise immortality through sacrifice. Every decision changes how the village behaves. Over time you unlock new buildings, curses, relics and follower forms, pouring the resources from your crusades back into the shrine. That loop β€” head out, come back, invest, get stronger β€” is exactly what keeps players hooked on Cult of the Lamb for dozens of hours.

What's included and the updates

You're buying the base game β€” and that's a real plus: over the years since launch Massive Monster shipped several big free updates, and they're all already in the game:

  • Relics of the Old Faith (April 2023) β€” a post-game story campaign, a photo mode, and reworked combat and cult management.
  • Sins of the Flesh (January 2024) β€” a sin mechanic, new doctrines, a blunderbuss weapon, a follower breeding system and lots of cosmetics.
  • Unholy Alliance (August 2024) β€” two-player co-op: the second player controls the Goat alongside the Lamb, plus new tarot cards, relics, buildings and follower traits.

The paid Woolhaven expansion is separate β€” it released on 22 January 2026 and adds new story content, two dungeons, weather effects and animal breeding. It's a standalone purchase and is not part of the base gift.

How we deliver the gift

Cult of the Lamb is delivered as a Steam Gift via our bot. You provide your Steam friend invite link and your account region. The bot adds itself as your friend, sends the gift, and after delivery leaves your friends list automatically β€” no need to accept anything. Delivery usually takes a couple of minutes from checkout.

There are only two conditions, and both are on Steam's side, not ours. First: your account region must match the gift region, or Steam simply won't let you accept the gift. Second: Cult of the Lamb must not already be in this account's library β€” you can't accept a gift for a game you already own. Steam Guard isn't required, and you don't need any other games or activity on the account either.

Where to play

This is the regular Steam version for PC (Windows), so your library, achievements and cloud saves are all there. It runs great on Steam Deck: controls and UI are built for a gamepad, making runs easy on the go. If you're planning co-op via Unholy Alliance, grab a friend to play the Goat and run the cult together on one screen.
