CARRION — Steam Gift

About the game

CARRION is a reverse-horror game where you are the monster. An amorphous mass of red tentacles tears out of a research facility and devours everyone in its path — you grow, smash through doors, drag people into the vents and spread terror instead of running from it. You get the full game as a Steam gift delivered to your library via our bot.

Once the gift is delivered it cannot be refunded. If Steam rejects the gift due to region mismatch, the full amount is returned to your site balance.
Available items are processed automatically. Any issues will be resolved starting from 9:00 MSK.

Your Steam account region must match the gift region, and CARRION must not already be in your library. Pick the variant for your region.

FAQ

CARRION — a reverse-horror where you are the monster

Classic horror casts you as the victim hiding from a creature in dark corridors. CARRION flips that on its head: the creature is you. An amorphous red mass of tentacles tears out of a research facility and begins its way to the surface, devouring guards, scientists and soldiers who stand between you and freedom. You're not the one running from the terror here — you are the terror.

The game was developed by Polish studio Phobia Game Studio and published by Devolver Digital. It launched on July 23, 2020 and has since become a cult favorite among fans of unconventional indie horror. When you buy from us, you get the full version of the game as a Steam gift delivered straight to your library through our bot.

What it's like to play as the monster

You control a biomass that grows as it consumes the living. The more you eat, the bigger and stronger you get. The small form is nimble and slips through narrow vents, while the large form rams doors, tears people apart and grapples several targets at once. This “size as a resource” mechanic is the heart of CARRION: you constantly balance the power of the big form against the agility of the small one.

As you progress you absorb new abilities: webbing to bind mechanisms and enemies, a charging dash, invisibility, an aggressive grab. Abilities are tied to your mass, so puzzles often revolve around shedding or gaining size at the right moment. CARRION is a metroidvania in reverse: you explore the facility's maze, open new paths with fresh powers and return to places you couldn't reach before.

Atmosphere and presentation

Lush pixel art and plenty of gore make every attack spectacular: tentacles lash through corridors, people scream and scatter, and you spread across the screen as a crimson flood. The story is told almost without words — you piece together how and why the monster ended up in captivity from fragments of memory and the environment. It's a short, dense, deeply atmospheric game you can comfortably finish over a couple of evenings.

A separate plus is how lightweight it is. Thanks to the pixel-art style, CARRION runs smoothly on weak machines and feels great on the Steam Deck, while its localized interface and subtitles make it accessible without English.

What you get and how it works

You're buying the full version of CARRION — the entire campaign, not the free “Sneak Peek” demo level. Delivery goes through Steam Gift: you provide a friend invite link and your account region, and our bot adds itself, sends the gift and leaves your friends list after delivery. You don't need to accept the friend request manually, and Steam Guard isn't required — the gift arrives even on an account without it. The whole process usually takes about a couple of minutes.

Important gift conditions

For Steam to accept the gift, two things matter. First, your Steam account region must match the gift region — otherwise Steam simply won't let you accept it. Second, CARRION must not already be in that account's library: a gift can't be activated on a game you already own, and that's the most common reason it fails. If your profile is private or the invite link has expired, the bot can't add you — just send a fresh invite link and we'll retry the delivery.

How the campaign is built

The facility in CARRION is one continuous, interconnected maze with no loading screens between zones. You break through from lair to lair, meeting ever tougher resistance along the way: first unarmed guards, then soldiers with shotguns and flamethrowers, drones, turrets and armored enemies in exoskeletons. Each new threat makes you rethink which form and ability will dispatch it best — a head-on charge doesn't always work, and sometimes it's smarter to sneak up as a small mass and drag the gunmen into the dark one by one.

The game is deliberately sparing with hints: there's no conventional map, and you navigate by memory and the logic of the biome. For some, that's the whole appeal — the feeling of a living, breathing space you gradually bring under your control. Others should know going in: a couple of spots can be slightly confusing, and that's by design, not a bug. All told, the campaign runs a few hours and never pads itself out artificially.

Who it's for

CARRION is a great pick if you're tired of being the victim in horror games and finally want to be on the other side of the terror. It's for players who appreciate expressive pixel animation, destruction physics and short but dense games with no filler. If you're after something for an evening or two, light on hardware and built around a genuinely unique idea — this monster is for you.

If you love the Devolver vibe

CARRION came out under Devolver Digital, a publisher known for bold and distinctive indies. If you enjoy their style, check out Hotline Miami with its frantic neon violence, or the dark card-game puzzle Inscryption. And if you like playing as the not-so-nice protagonist, Cult of the Lamb will be right up your alley. They're all available in our catalog.
