Crash tests in BeamNG are gripping in themselves — many spend hours smashing cars at different speeds just to watch how beautifully and believably everything breaks. Damage also affects handling: bent suspension pulls the car to one side, a punctured radiator overheats the engine, and a flat tire noticeably changes behavior on the road. This turns every crash from cosmetics into an honest consequence of your actions.

Modes: from free roam to scenarios

You can play in different ways. Free roam is a pure sandbox where you simply cruise the map and run your own experiments. Time trials test how cleanly and quickly you take a track. And campaigns are collections of small scenarios united by a theme: races, chases, stunts. This format lets you both relax and have fun and get a structured challenge when you want a goal and a result rather than just joyriding.

Twelve open environments

The world of BeamNG.drive is 12 large open locations, each with its own character. Mountain roads are perfect for controlled drifting and brake checks, wide highways for acceleration, industrial zones and cities for stunts and chases, and off-road areas for SUVs and suspension tests. The spaces feel spacious and varied, so a dull, samey landscape is not a risk, and there are always reasons to return to a map you already know.

The game has an official mod repository accessible both from the website and inside the client, and the community has filled it with thousands of cars, maps, configurations and crazy experiments.
