Backrooms Lost Runners is a co-op survival horror set in the Backrooms universe, made by Ukrainian studio ShimStudioGames. Two to four of you wander endless yellow corridors where entities react to light, noise and your actual voice, and your sanity drains in the dark. A team game where coordination is your real weapon. You get the full Steam version delivered as a gift to your account.

Lost Runners turns that myth into team survival. You explore levels, search for resources and keys, solve environmental puzzles and try not to lose your mind: a sanity system reacts to darkness and isolation, while the monsters themselves react to light, noise and even your actual voice in the mic. Say one word out loud and something is already walking toward the sound.

Why co-op is everything here

Lost Runners is built around online co-op with voice chat. Splitting up to search a sector faster is tempting, but alone you're far easier to corner. The game pushes you to stay together, share flashlights and resources, cover each other and keep your voice down. When a teammate dies, the "Tesseract Afterlife" mechanic kicks in — death isn't always the final word, and the team still has a chance. You can play solo, but it's a full squad on headsets where the Backrooms truly clicks: panic, whispers over comms and nervous laughter when you finally find the exit.

Edition and what's included

On sale is the standard edition — the full Backrooms Lost Runners game, with no mandatory extras and no need to buy a base version separately. Everyone who wants to play co-op with you needs their own copy. The game launched on June 17, 2026 on Steam in Early Access: the developers keep adding content and tuning balance, so some levels and systems expand over time. It supports 17 interface and subtitle languages, including English and Russian, so getting comfortable is easy.

Platform and system requirements

Backrooms Lost Runners runs on PC via Steam only: you need Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit). There are no macOS, Linux, console or mobile versions. Once the gift is accepted, the game sits in your Steam library like any normal purchase — with cloud saves, achievements and every update the studio rolls out.
