American Truck Simulator: hauling across the American roads
American Truck Simulator isn't a race or an action game β it's the meditative pleasure of driving a big rig. SCS Software captured the feel of American highways: endless interstates, desert sunsets, gas stations, weigh stations and the hum of a diesel under the hood. You start as a hired driver, take your first hauls, save up for your own truck, and eventually grow a whole freight company with garages and hired drivers. That calm is exactly why people keep coming back to ATS for years.
What's in the base game
The base version of American Truck Simulator opens three starter states β California, Nevada and Arizona (Arizona was added as a free update and is part of the base). That's dozens of cities, scaled real-world routes and recognizable landscapes from the Pacific coast to the Southwestern deserts. You also get a starting lineup of licensed trucks β brands like Kenworth, Peterbilt, International and Volvo β each fully customizable: engine, cab, body kit, paint, lights.
Other state maps are separate DLC
Over time SCS Software keeps paving new states onto the map: Texas, Oregon, Washington, Utah, Idaho, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa, Louisiana, Illinois and more. Keep in mind: these are all separate paid add-ons and are not part of this gift. You get the base game with California, Nevada and Arizona β a solid foundation worth dozens of hours, and map expansions can always be bought later.
How you receive American Truck Simulator
This is a Steam gift, not a key. You provide your Steam friend invite link and your account region, place the order β and our bot adds itself to your friends, sends the gift, and leaves after delivery. You don't need to accept the request, and Steam Guard isn't required either. The whole process usually takes a couple of minutes. Then you simply accept the gift in Steam and the game lands in your library like a normal purchase β with cloud saves, achievements and Workshop mod support.
Important gift conditions
- Region must match. Steam only accepts the gift if your account region falls within the gift region β so enter your country honestly.
- You must not already own it. Steam won't let an account that already has American Truck Simulator accept the gift. Check your library before ordering.
- Open friend requests. Allow adding friends in your profile settings, otherwise the bot can't reach you.
Trucks, customization and atmosphere
The heart of American Truck Simulator is the trucks themselves. Licensed Kenworth, Peterbilt, International and Volvo cabs are recreated with real attention to detail: the dashboard, the gear lever, the mirrors, the suspension reacting to bumps. Under the hood you choose engines of varying power and transmissions, all the way to realistic manual gearboxes with a splitter. Every rig can be built your way: chassis length, sleeper cab, chrome tanks, extra lights, horns, flags, custom paint. Once the truck is set up the way you like, the road becomes a personal space where spending hours feels good.
The gameplay loop: from driver to boss
Progression in ATS is slow and addictive. At first you haul other people's cargo for a flat fee, build reputation and experience, and level up skills β fuel efficiency, fragile or hazardous loads, long-distance runs. Once you've saved up for your first own truck, you move to freelance hauling with full income, then buy garages, hire drivers and track their runs on the map. It's a gentle economic sim layered over the driving: bank loans, fuel and repair costs, fleet growth. Drive it all yourself in first person, or build a logistics empire β your call.
Technical features and mods
The game supports wheels and pedals with realistic force feedback, triple monitors, VR and plenty of realism options β from traffic to parking difficulty. The huge Steam Workshop adds thousands of mods: new trucks, trailers, physics, graphics, maps and sounds. Steam cloud saves and achievements work just like with any normal purchase β because the gift lands in your library exactly that way.
Who ATS is for
If you enjoy a relaxed pace where you can put on a favorite playlist or podcast and just drive, American Truck Simulator is your pick. It's the perfect wind-down game after work, with room to dive deep into logistics and company management. And if you prefer European roads, check out the sister project from the same studio β Euro Truck Simulator 2. Into heavy machinery and open worlds β look at SnowRunner with its off-road hauling, or the farming classic Farming Simulator 22.
Start the engine, pick your first haul and roll out onto the American highway β the road is waiting. π
