Dragon Crystals and Diamonds are not the same currency
The first thing to understand about AFK Journey's economy is that Dragon Crystals and Diamonds are two distinct resources. The first four form a closed counter loop — Lightbearer beats Mauler, Mauler beats Wilder, Wilder beats Graveborn, Graveborn beats Lightbearer. Celestial and Hypogean sit outside the wheel and act as neutrals that complete the five-faction synergy bonus alongside any of the four. The catch is that they cannot be pulled on regular banners. The only source is Stargaze Station, which uses Stellar Crystals. The mechanic that sets AFK Journey apart from Genshin or Honkai: Star Rail is the five-hero wishlist: the 30-pull S-Level guarantee will only roll a hero from your wishlist, which makes long-term planning around specific S-tier picks far more predictable than chasing a rotating featured character. Rate Up Recruitment runs the current A/S rate-up using Diamonds or Letters, and All-Hero Recruitment is the A-Level baseline. Pity on All-Hero and Rate Up starts at 10 and ramps to 30 for an S-Level, and it does not reset between banners of the same type.
Welcome Packs and Beginner's Story: why the first 14 days matter
The Beginner's Story bundles (also referred to as Welcome Packs) are one-time offers gated to roughly the first 14 days after a character is created. After that window they disappear permanently. They have the highest resource density per dollar in the game and typically include Dragon Crystals, Diamonds, Epic Invite Letters and ascension materials in tight ratios. - Dream Realm — a daily boss-rush against four rotating bosses with a server-wide damage leaderboard and six difficulty tiers.
- Trial of Abyss — a long-term PvE descent that unlocks after 1,125 AFK stages and 18 days of server age.
- Honor Duel — drafted PvP where the roster is handed out from a mode-specific shop, so your account collection does not carry over.
- Arcane Labyrinth — a 160-floor roguelike across eight difficulty tiers, with Deep Labyrinth handling the ranked layer beyond floor 15.

Frieren and Himmel are handed out as Dimensional heroes through a 7-day login event (Himmel on day one, Frieren on day three), with a winter Frieren skin and a Cedartown event story attached. It is the third major IP collab on AFK Journey after Fairy Tail in May 2025 and Delicious in Dungeon in November 2025.
Servers, Player ID and how the top-up reaches the account
AFK Journey servers are not tied to geography — players from different countries land on the same numbered server (a letter plus a number) and a new server opens automatically when the previous one fills up.
